Beaufort, South Carolina is a well-kept southern secret that is rich in history and hospitality. Founded by the Spanish in 1514, sanctioned and colonized by the British in 1711, Beaufort enjoyed great wealth and success in the rice, indigo and cotton industries leading up to the Civil War.
This seaside city is located on the Atlantic coast, and is surrounded by a beautiful harbor.
